Low Ground Pressure Marsh Equipment

What is Low Ground Pressure Equipment?

Low ground pressure equipment is heavy equipment that has been specially designed to spread the weight of the equipment over a larger area. This allows it to move across terrain that is too soft for regular heavy equipment.

Picture of a Wilson Marsh Excavator demonstrating the low ground pressure pontoon undercarriage.

However, just spreading the load in this way is not enough to enable you to perform heavy work in soft ground, wetlands, marsh and swamp.

Take a look at the machine to the left. A person can't even stand in this ground, yet this Wilson Marsh Excavator can do heavy work. This is true low ground-pressure in action.

This is due to the special design of the equipment. It doesn't just spread the load, the undercarriage creates buoyancy, giving the machine capabilities between those of a barge and a regular excavator.

Read on to discover how we get this amazing performance, and how to put it to work for you.

Wetland Equipment | Soft Terrain Equipment

Marsh, swamp and soft terrain are different conditions that present similar challenges for heavy equipment. The terrain is too solid for boats, and too soft for regular construction equipment.

The Challenge of Wetlands

Wetlands are areas where water covers the soil, or is present either at or near the surface of the soil all year or for varying periods of time during the year, including during the growing season.

Introduction to Marsh Equipment

Marsh Equipment meets the challenge of wetlands and soft-terrain by combining buoyancy with the maneuverability of a tracked vehicle.

A Unique Capability

Marsh Buggies have a unique ability to work in soft conditions. Prior to their development, natural resources in swamps and marshes were exploited by cutting canals to bring water-borne heavy equipment to work.

Marsh Equipment Summary

There has never been a machine more suited to its environment than the Marsh Buggy. When it comes to to working, or bringing equipment, in to those places that are too thick to swim in, or too thin to walk on, the Marsh Buggy is the perfect tool.
